Inside, the ride vehicles move slowly, but with all the targets, music and noises, it creates a fun, and frenetic atmosphere. [below]

And of course, the exit to the ride leads into a shop with Toy Story merchandise. And pins. [below]

It's a cute, little ride. Much better than the recent 'Winnie the Pooh' ride, 'Buzz' has a certain hipness that makes it not feel so much like it's directed at a 3-year old..

Later that day, we were in Frontierland and saw the Columbia sailing ship coming in to dock. It occured to me, that in all my 36 years of visiting Disneyland I've never been on the Columbia sailing ship. What's up with that?

Columbia sails around the Rivers of America, and with the nautical tunes sung by The Mellomen piped in, it really felt like one of Disneyland's earliest attractions - which it is, it opened in 1958.

Almost 50 years later, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster arrives at Disneyland. Sure, the technology has been updated, it features a newer Disney/Pixar creation, but it's a low-key attraction, that's still great fun.

And, like the Columbia, Buzz doesn't turn upside down, travel 0-60 in 7 seconds, scare you, spit at you, or make you smell stinky smells. We were grateful for that.

I love this ride. I'm the one who doesn't like scary stuff, or the 3-D movies where things spit in your face. So, this one is perfect for me. It's fun, and I like the shooting gallery part.

I was pleasantly surprised by Buzz Lightyear. While I do have a slight issue with adding more rides based on cartoon characters in places other than Fantasyland and ToonTown, this seems to be the wave of the future for Disneyland. Cie la vie!

It's really cute and well done. Even better than Walt Disney World's. I like being able to control where you turn the ride vehicle. Really well done. Unlike the 'Winnie the Pooh' ride, which was sort of duddy.
